About Me
Hi, I’m Lizanne B, a furniture artist and the proud owner of my own LLC, dedicated to restoring, refinishing, and repurposing vintage and antique furniture. My journey into this creative field started long before I ever called it a career. Growing up, I was surrounded by beautiful antiques passed down through generations, treasures that instilled in me a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and timeless design.
Over a decade ago, I began restoring and repurposing furniture as a way to help my children furnish their first apartments. What started as a practical solution quickly turned into a passion. I discovered the joy and fulfillment in taking an old, forgotten piece and transforming it into something beautiful and functional again.
After retiring from the corporate world in 2021, I decided to fully embrace my love for furniture artistry. Combining creativity with problem-solving, I launched my one-person shop, where I specialize in breathing new life into pieces that tell a story. From restoring heirlooms to crafting unique designs from vintage elements, I am committed to honoring the history of each item while making it a cherished part of someone’s home.
How It All Began
In the late 80s, my mom invited me to take a parks and rec class on furniture refinishing with her. I had never done anything like it before but was eager to try. At a local flea market, I found a small child’s secretary desk that seemed like a fun project. Mom still jokes about how she refinished a simple “box” while I worked on the little desk.
The desk turned out beautifully, and I used it in my apartment for a while. I kept it for decades, thinking my kids might want it one day. When I eventually moved, I decided to donate it, giving it a chance to start a new chapter with someone else.
My mom is the true artist in our family. She’s incredibly creative, painting stunning watercolors and crafting magical floral arrangements. This photo shows us in 2004, holding a painting she made to celebrate my MBA graduation. That same painting hangs proudly in my home today and even appears in a photo of me taken in 2022 when I earned my Master’s in IT. Her artistic spirit has always inspired me, fueling my passion for furniture artistry and creative expression.
What’s in a Name?
I chose the name Lizanne B as a reflection of my full name, Elizabeth Andrews Bradshaw. Much like my career, which has been shaped and enriched by each step of my journey, this name weaves together parts of my identity to represent the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
The custom signature, designed by my daughter, is something I truly cherish. Its heart-shaped butterfly beautifully symbolizes love, transformation, and vitality—the essence of both my work and this brand.
A Journey Forward
Starting Lizanne B in 2024 was an incredible experience! It felt like the roadrunner taking off – full of energy and excitement. What began as a hobby – creating beautiful furniture – has become my passion. I love connecting with people through the stories and joy that go into each piece.
Every piece reflects the lessons I’ve learned and the love that fuels my creativity. I’m not looking back; I’m focused on the amazing things to come. Just like the roadrunner, I’m always moving forward, with determination and a playful spirit.
